checksum - Error updating emacs packages: Failed to download 'gnu' archive - Stack Overflow

syl20bnr changed the title Failed to download 'gnu' archive. Bad request. (Solution included) Package undo-tree is unavailable and Failed to download 'gnu' archive. I've written some (perl) code to create a train timetable for my local station using an online data feed. I output an org file but the formatting is no good until I open the file in Emacs and manually hit tab on each day's table, at which point org aligns everything and it looks pretty good when saved even in plain text. I installed emacs on Arch Linux, opened it, ran package-refresh-contents and got this issue. After a while, I realized I had no init file. The problem now is that if I want to pull the latest commits I need to remove then add this code back each time, and attempting to add it to my own config.

I originally didn't want to modify that file to make diffing it with the example one easier, but this works fine. Skip to content. First of all run emacs with --debug-init from your terminal and check if it complains about being unable to verify the elpa archive due to an invalid key. If that is the case, copy the public key displayed to you. I ran into this problem because the GPG keys used by the ELPA package manager to verify authenticity of packages downloaded from the GNU ELPA archive have a limited validity in time. failed to download 'gnu' archive Keep getting this along with a list of failed package installs and this message is output at the start which is a new addition from my last emacs .
